New Maintainer!!
In light of recent events, and spam posts, I made a comment to the TOS team. They informed me that those posts were in no way against TOS. They then told me that the only way to get rid of it was to ban the user and delete the posts. Only the maintainer can do that. Once they found out that the maintainer canceled his account, and trying to contact the previous maintainer didnt work, they handed the community over to me.

I dont tihnk its quite fair to hand it directly over to me just because i commented on the offensive posts... So I figured Id see if anyone had any objections or wanted to be a maintainer/moderater?

Not to mention I am fairly new at this...

Well I just thought I'd let everyone know whats going on with the community!

Any input and suggestions are very welcome at this point!

Insulting comments are here to stay

In response to Lauren Morgan's March 30 column "Insults are Polluting This Campus," what's the big deal?
This happens every day not only on campus but everywhere.
If you get that offended by comments, turn your iPod up a bit louder and prance your way into class because it can't stop. The phrase you were looking for about the girl at a distance is known as "good from far, far from good."
Men have many of these sayings; they are part of our male vernacular: butter face, mosquito bites, the list goes on.
It's inevitable this will happen, so next time you're downtown and you see some hot guy, pinch his butt, and see if he actually cares. There are few guys who will actually be offended.
This isn't elementary school anymore; suck it up and take an insult or two.

In “Insulting comments are here to stay,” Alex McCracken asks us, “What’s the big deal?” Concerning negativism towards women, he states, “This isn't elementary school anymore; suck it up and take an insult or two.” He even goes as far as defining “our male vernacular.”
Misguided as I believe his opinion to be, and as hesitant as I am in honoring his words of “wisdom” with reply, I would like to question his analysis.
Alex McCracken, what is “our male vernacular?”
You seem to suggest it is the language of misogynism, sexual harassment, and negativism. You denote demeaning slang like “butter face” and “mosquito bites” as words in “our” vocabulary. Alex McCracken, your vocabulary is not “our” vocabulary.
These objectifying words are not to be tolerated regardless of their frequency of utterance. I say again, just because it “happens every day”, it does not make it right.
Alex McCracken, this language does not make you a man. It makes you a misogynist.
In closing, this is not elementary school anymore, Alex McCracken. Please attempt to expand your “male vernacular” beyond 5th grade playground banter.

I think you guys should be able to appreciate these lyrics
Here are some lyrics by the Christian emo band The Holy Mountain. They are very good and you should check them out.

Welcome to the unnatural order. A god-fearing nation of homophobic humans, a chopping block of faith-based faulty logic and unchallenged tradition. The male dominates but only after an initial, sacrificial foreskin donation. Born into an unnatural order, the infant casualties of religious wars, if given a chance to keep it would promise to clean it. But we were never asked before the church came to claim it. he is risen and what now? the lord beckons, bearing a necklace of little boy's foreskins. And this flesh that you've taken, better reserve a nice spot in heaven because my foreskin was taken and i was never offered the chance to say goodbye.

That song is called "Penis Jihad", and its on their new 12" EP "Bloodstains Across Your Face". They're very good, except that they don't like George W Bush... is that a sin?

Hey, I'm new here (joined today) and I just wanted to say hi. This is the first community I've joined, and I first got into christian music when Roper and All Day Drive came to our town for a concert! I've also listened to Abide, but Roper is definitly my all time favorite right now!

last night I found an old sampler with further seems forever on it. It was from before their first abum came out. You know back when Chris Carraba was in the band. The description called them "post-punk." I'll sell it to you for $7 billion dollars.

emo to me.
love. hate. all these things are emotions. God, in his infinite wisedom gave us emotions to help us react to various situations. emo, in both the musical style, and the lifestyle, is just the practice of being real. not holding anything back and not being afraid to be yourself. although emo kids are often chastised for being "whiny" or other such things, the truth is, that to be emo, you must confront your true self. for some people it is easier to deny who you really are than to accept it. that is why i am emo...

don't worry, be emo.
